practice pointing using tux point
Objective:
The individual will learn to touch the touch screen to achieve
a desired result.
Rationale:
Pointing is a basic and useful form of communication. Once learned, this skill can open significant doors to communication.
Materials:
Tux Paint (found on the desktop of your TouchSmart) or other drawing programs.
Basic Instructions:
A digital-art program enables the individual to color, draw or type by clicking or dragging on the computer screen. In addition to “playing” with this software, this tool can be used to practice letter formation, writing a word or creating a story page.
Things to Consider:
At first, the goal is to reinforce “pointing.” Keep it simple, and keep it fun!
Progress:
May include increased willingness to use the computer, attention to task, increased efforts to touch the screen, progress toward deliberate pointing or identifying preferred activities.
