Hope Assistive Technology Lab
Hope Technology School hosts an after school program, Hope AT Lab, to support students through assistive technology devices. By providing assistive technology services, we help students to develop independence and communication skills and to achieve academic goals.
What is Assistive Technology?
According to the Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988 (Public Law 100-407), Assistive Technology (AT) includes any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, off-the-shelf, modified or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. An Assistive Technology Service is any service that directly assists an individual with a disability in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device.
Hope AT Lab
Hope AT Lab provides assistive technology services and employs a collaborative approach, utilizing the skills and experience of our Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and numerous AT Instructors. Our staff works together with educators and students to discover various modes of technology that will enhance students' abilities and best meet each person's needs.
Hope AT Lab consists of adaptive work stations. We employ various modes of technology including low, middle and high technology. Students participate in various workstations based on their skill levels and personal goals.
